WHERE ART AND INNOVATION MEETS

SUMMARY

Spanning an entire city block in San Francisco, the 12-story, 274-bed CPMC Van Ness Campus consolidates two existing campuses into a cutting-edge medical hub. Designed as a "hospital within a hospital," it houses both adult acute care and women’s and children’s services. Utilizing Lean programming and advanced modeling, the project was completed nearly a year early and within budget. As one of the nation’s safest and most sustainable hospitals, it features 120 viscous wall dampers—making it the first U.S. hospital with this technology—allowing it to withstand major earthquakes and operate independently for up to 96 hours.
